Football should be safe, enjoyable and respectful. Everyone representing, supporting or visiting Maidenbower Colts has a part to play.

Our standards

How we behave matters.

Our codes set clear expectations for players, coaches, team officials, match officials, parents, guardians and spectators.

They support a positive football environment where player welfare comes first, match officials are respected, discrimination and bullying are not tolerated, and everyone can enjoy the game.

Players

Play with respect.

Enjoy the game, take responsibility and treat everyone involved in football with dignity.

01. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others.
02. Follow the laws and spirit of the game.
03. Respect match officials and their decisions.
04. Promote fair play and be gracious in victory and defeat.
05. Take responsibility for behaviour and performance.
06. Never engage in or tolerate bullying, abusive or insulting behaviour.
Coaches

Players come first.

Coaching should protect welfare, enjoyment and development above winning.

01. Treat every person equally and with respect.
02. Put player wellbeing, enjoyment and safety first.
03. Build relationships based on mutual trust and respect.
04. Use age and ability appropriate activities.
05. Promote fair play and respect officials.
06. Never tolerate offensive, insulting, abusive or bullying behaviour.
Parents & Spectators

Support. Don't pressure.

Positive sidelines help young people enjoy football and develop with confidence.

01. Encourage players positively and remember football is for their enjoyment.
02. Leave coaching to the coaches.
03. Respect referees, opposition players, coaches and other spectators.
04. Never use abusive, discriminatory or threatening language or behaviour.
05. Follow Respect Barrier and venue instructions.
06. Raise safeguarding concerns promptly through the proper channels.
Officials

Set the standard.

Team and match officials have a direct influence on behaviour on and around the pitch.

01. Set a positive example and promote high standards.
02. Respect everyone involved in the game.
03. Accept match officials' decisions without protest.
04. Apply laws and competition rules fairly and consistently.
05. Manage games calmly and encourage fair play.
06. Never tolerate offensive, insulting or abusive behaviour.

Respect is not optional.

Abusive, discriminatory, threatening or bullying behaviour has no place at Maidenbower Colts. Concerns should be raised with the appropriate club official, and safeguarding concerns should be reported through the club's safeguarding process.
